I would like to warmly welcome you to our Sarasota British Club website and hope you enjoy the contents enough to feel you want to join us. We are a large group made up of ex-pats, American spouses, or individuals who have joined just because they have an interest in the British culture, social life and traditions.
Many of our members are direct from the UK, others are ex-pats who have moved here from other parts of the US, and some members are Americans living locally. This makes us a diverse group of people with common interests.
Since its inception, many lifelong friendships have been formed amongst the membership. When a member has a problem they can always turn to another member to provide them with the answer on issues ranging from a good plumber, pub, restaurant, or swimming pool repair man!
We are a very active club. Our social activities have included, barbecues, theatre visits, horse racing, pub crawls on a trolley bus, Halloween parties, trips to polo games, parties celebrating Her Majesty‘s birthday and St George‘s Day, pot luck suppers at members’ homes, etc., and of course our annual Christmas Party. We are a very friendly group and you can be assured of a warm welcome and good time. You may participate as much or as little as you wish, but do keep in mind that you will get out of the club what you put into it. Our family membership fees are very affordably priced at $35 annually. We try to plan our social events with plenty of notice to members, and normally have at least one event per month.
We always welcome more submissions for British humor, culture, recipes, club history and in particular photos from previous club events for our website (please email to jcroshaw@standoutsolutions.com). Our monthly newsletter is sent to you by email or can be downloaded on this site. I look forward to meeting any new members who should feel free to call me (941-366-9984) and introduce themselves.
Sincerely,
Terry Sweeney Club President
